This week – Hour 1 – Jeff starts of the year in a Holistic mood. We are going to be investigating all things healthy and we start with a bit of Aroma Therapy and essential oils. Jeff is relatively new to this so Vicki Rae Thorne of Earth Heart Inc. joins him to answer the questions what is aroma therapy how does it help you pet and what is the difference between an essential oil and a good 10w-30? We learn a lot from Vicki. Remember the Rescue Animal MP3 Project we introduced in 2011? Well, Dr. Pamela Fisher is back with us again to celebrate their new official ”non-profit” status and tell us what is happening. Dr. Pamela Fisher is the founder of this program and she is a Veterinarian and a “Holistic Veterinarian” at that! They are doing great work and helping MANY shelters and rescue orgs including local dog pounds. News – This was bound to happen sooner or later, someone is suing so that pets are “Not Property!” Pets mean so much to so many people listen in to hear about this lawsuit and voice your opinion!

Hour 2 – Dr. Dawn Marcus MD has been with us for a long time here on the My Buddy Butch Show. She is a delight to have on the show and always has something that will help us live healthier lives. She is the author of “Fit as Fido” and “The Power of Wagging Tails” and is here to talk about a new study that she is conducting. If you have migraines and own a dog, you can participate in this study that may lead to service dogs being used to predict migraines! Butch has had some trouble with anal glands. Have you had a good anal gland expression lately? Well he needed one for a painful impacted sac and boy it hurt. Jeff comments on what he has been told about this from both traditional and holistic vets. What is YOUR opinion? With the uprising in Libya pretty much over the aftermath includes zoo animals on the brink of starvation. The world community has been trying to help but with a price tag of $2000 per day trying to feed over 800 animals time is running out for them. Will their new government be able to help?

You have to hear this she is very passionate about this topic and you will see…or rather hear! Bed Bugs have not gone away just be cause it summer and if you are traveling this summer you need to beware of your surroundings and how these little ‘buggers” can ride into your house on your pet! Jeff gives some tips on how to prevent infestation. 

Hour 2- Dr. Dawn Marcus MD, Professor, Neurologist and author of “The Power of Wagging Tails” joins Jeff to discuss the study that she conducted at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center regarding the effect of therapy dogs on pain management patients in the waiting room. We have all had to sit in a Doctor’s waiting room either sick or in pain. These folks, some having no hope of a cure, are there to try and live with their pain. Listen in to the surprising results of this study that Dr. Dawn wanted to announce on our show before it was released to the national medical journals. Dr. Patrick Mahaney our Vet to the stars stops by to talk about the tragic death of Amy Winehouse and the situation her pets are in now that she is gone. Also an in-depth discussion about rabies and why this threat needs constant vigilance. Jeff received a letter from the President and CEO of the USO this past week.

This week  – Neurologist and professor at the University of Pittsburgh Dr. Dawn Marcus is back with us to talk about the release of her new book “The Power of Wagging Tails.” Therapy dogs are doing unbelievable work helping people cope with various ailments and now Dr. Marcus is doing a study of the use of therapy dogs in waiting rooms. She also talks about how your dog could possibly make a great therapy dog. Dr. Patrick Mahaney is with us for the 4th part of the series about his visit to Peru…exotic animals a three toed sloth. Dr. Marcus also hangs around to talk about how exposing your baby to pets can help them avoid allergies later in life. She has been involved with many studies regarding this. Buck a new film about the REAL Horse Whisperer is out this weekend. Pets are getting sick from Cicada Ingestion, and Dogs are dying of Parvovirus in our news segment.

Dana Humphrey of Whitegate PR in New York and San Diego is with us to talk about the first “National Dog Party Day” simultaneously being held in both cities on June 24th. Also Sunburn causes cancer and there was a release from the FDA this past week that tells us we have not been getting the proper protection from the sunscreen we have been purchasing.
