This week  – Shane Reynold – TV personality, writer, producer, camera man, and all around adventurer joins us to talk about his new series“Shane Untamed” on National Geographic’s NAT GEO WILD channel.

 He has travel the corners of the earth to put together a great episodic documentary. He’s out to experience a world of wild animals and wild spaces that most of us only dream of seeing and, along the way, explore the people and cultures that call these incredible, and often remote, places home.  Animal Control officers are ticketing owners of “vicious dogs” in cities around the country including Pit Bulls, and one of the “political” talk show hosts misinterpreted the San Francisco law banning Pet Sales in the City. We are also joined by “Frosting Fran” of the K9 Cakery and she will talk about baking for dogs and some of the items they have to offer in addition to the National Dog Party Day!  After the tornados, Joplin Mo. Humane Society needs some help with rescued animals. Are you getting married with your pet in the wedding party, well you have to listen to this show!

In the spirit of keeping our summer reading conversation going author Alison Pace joins us to talk about her new novel “A Pug’s Tale” which was released this month. Alison has been a friend of the show for a couple of years when her previous book “City Dog ” was released. Both Enjoyable reads for this summer! Karen Everhardt is the Executive director of Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement facility in Kansas. She joins us to talk about how this wonderful facility started and what it takes to keep and equine rescue and sanctuary going on a daily basis. Babesiosis… have you heard of this? Well it’s just one more of the infectious gifts that ticks can transmit to YOU AND YOUR PET! Dianne Sawyer reported on this on ABC News and Jeff takes a look at this disease that can actually be fatal for up to 20% of the people who catch this!

This week - Writer, Director, and Producer Joe Camp of the “BENJI” series of films joins Jeff to talk about his best selling book “Soul of A Horse,” and “Soul of A Horse Blogged.” Any time horse care and/or racing is brought up, the conversation just wouldn’t be complete without including Joe. He has a wealth of knowledge and 6 beautiful horses (and Benji!) to prove it! Also, Dr. Tina Wismer from the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center joins Jeff for the Vet Topic - Toxic plants and chemicals in the yard! Being a DIY person, Jeff tries to be mindful when working or planting anything outside and Dr. Tina gives him some great tips. News and Announcements.

Leslie Smith Editor-in-Chief of the Dogtime blog network joins Jeff to talk about her series on “No-Kill” shelters and her experience that they need to be doing more. Not a popular outlook as she acknowledges especially when most of them are doing everything thing they can at breakneck speed to save animals on the euthanasia list. Also Joan Powers of the Colorado Pug Rescue checks in to talk about “Preloved-Auction” and how this format is helping rescues to save Pugs as far away as England. Dr. Patrick Mahaney our Vet to the Stars drops in to continue his series on his trip to Peru. Ever heard of a “BOT FLY?” well he will tell all about it and if we have to worry here in the USA. Texas Senate finally passes the “Animal Abuse Registry” where they keep track of animal abusers but there is a hitch…naturally. also in our news section a stray Pit Bull rescues a woman and her child from a would-be attacker in Florida…you won’t believe this!

He tells us how he chooses a colt for the team and what a Bloodstock agent does. 2nd race of the triple crown is this weekend  in Baltimore MD at Pimlico and we’ll be rooting for Animal Kingdom! The last time Dr. Kim Bloomer was with us, she was talking about her Neo Mastiff  “Shadrak” and some of the difficulties he was having. She recognized that he was in his last days. Sadly, the very next day Shadrak passed away and Dr. Kim is here to talk about what she did to make his last moments on earth more comfortable and how she is handling the loss. All of our pets will die someday. It’s a fact of life that we don’t like to think about but eventually…

The New Series on National Geographic Channel – “Ice Pilots” every Friday evening at 10pm Eastern and Pacific. Mikey McBrian is General manager of Buffalo Airlines in the Northwest Territory of Canada and they fly crucial supplies into an area twicw the size of Texas to a population of 40,000 people! Dr. Patrick Mahaney our Vet to the Stars checks in to talk about an injury to a horse that happened at the Kentucky Derby and give us a preview of our new series about his trip to Peru to perform volunteerVeterinary work. Don’t forget today is the Preakness in Baltimore MD. Race coverage is on NBC Sports at 4:30pm Eastern coast to coast. GO Animal Kingdom!
