My Buddy Butch quoted at Match.com!

Dating and pets (…not dating your pets!) is a subject that I didn’t give much thought to until my buddy “Butch” came crashing into my life 5 years ago this very day! (Happy Birthday Butch - July 13th 2004!). Enamoured with the prospect of caring for this new little life, I was concentrating so hard on trying not to screw up that I didn’t even think about the ramifications of owning a pet and how that would impact a single guy in today’s dating world. It’s an ice breaker, it’s an introduction, it’s a beautiful conversation starter, but when things get more serious, is a potential partner ready for the previous commitment that I have made to care for Butch for his ENTIRE lifetime? This is a good question because remember that if you enter into a relationship with someone else, although that person will occasionally help out, your pet is still YOUR PET! Not your new girlfriend or boyfriend’s responsibility!  The love for your pet should not be replaced with that of a new partner and visa-versa~!
