This week – Hour 1 – Ever Heard of “Dogtor J?” Well his name is Dr. John B Symes and he is a well known Veterinarian from Alabama that has done extensive research on some of the causes of seizures in pets. Now Butch has been doing pretty well over the last couple of weeks since his seizure episode, so Jeff have been doing more research on what to be feeding him on a more natural diet. He wants to be sure that he is getting all of the right things in his diet and start doing away with the bad! From over ten years of medical and nutritional research Dr. John B. Symes or “Dogtor J” developed “The G.A.R.D.” an elimination diet for the treatment of most conditions afflicting man and his four-legged companions. Dogtor J joins Jeff to talk about how he came up with this diet, what he recommends feeding out Cats and Dogs, and answers Jeff’s big question, “If I prepare food for Butch on my own how can I be sure he is getting what he needs?” You’ll be surprised to know those folks who are feeding table scraps are not too far from the right answer as long as there is not too much sodium (salt) or things they shouldn’t be eating like onion/garlic, grapes raisins …the usual suspects. Hour 2 – National Geographic has a new 10 part series called “Doomsday Preppers.” Now you might think that this is a crazy thing for people to be getting ready for the end of the world and Jeff has even joked about not scheduling any meetings past December 21st because of the end of the Mayan calendar but what is YOUR definition of “Doomsday?” Are you prepared for a major Flood in your city? How about a Hurricane like Katrina or a tornado that rips through destroying your city. How about a power outage that lasts for days or weeks. Well these are all things that can happen, they are not funny nor is it Crazy to be prepared for them. Tim Reynolds talks with Jeff about Doomsday Prepping and also about a great invention that he came up with called the “Crovel.” Dr. Patrick Mahaney our Vet to the Stars in Hollywood checks in with Jeff to catch up on some of the things he has been up to and discusses the mid-winter safety tips for pets. Dr. Frank McMillin of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is back and he talks about puppy mills and a recent law suite filed in New York by the owner of a dog that she bought from a pet store. This week – Hour 1 – Jeff starts of the year in a Holistic mood. We are going to be investigating all things healthy and we start with a bit of Aroma Therapy and essential oils. Jeff is relatively new to this so Vicki Rae Thorne of Earth Heart Inc. joins him to answer the questions what is aroma therapy how does it help you pet and what is the difference between an essential oil and a good 10w-30? We learn a lot from Vicki. Remember the Rescue Animal MP3 Project we introduced in 2011? Well, Dr. Pamela Fisher is back with us again to celebrate their new official ”non-profit” status and tell us what is happening. Dr. Pamela Fisher is the founder of this program and she is a Veterinarian and a “Holistic Veterinarian” at that! They are doing great work and helping MANY shelters and rescue orgs including local dog pounds. News – This was bound to happen sooner or later, someone is suing so that pets are “Not Property!” Pets mean so much to so many people listen in to hear about this lawsuit and voice your opinion!

Hour 2 – Dr. Dawn Marcus MD has been with us for a long time here on the My Buddy Butch Show. She is a delight to have on the show and always has something that will help us live healthier lives. She is the author of “Fit as Fido” and “The Power of Wagging Tails” and is here to talk about a new study that she is conducting. If you have migraines and own a dog, you can participate in this study that may lead to service dogs being used to predict migraines! Butch has had some trouble with anal glands. Have you had a good anal gland expression lately? Well he needed one for a painful impacted sac and boy it hurt. Jeff comments on what he has been told about this from both traditional and holistic vets. What is YOUR opinion? With the uprising in Libya pretty much over the aftermath includes zoo animals on the brink of starvation. The world community has been trying to help but with a price tag of $2000 per day trying to feed over 800 animals time is running out for them. Will their new government be able to help?
