This week  Debby Lening joins us to talk about “Women In The Pet Industry Association” and what she is doing for not only women but businesses of all types that are involved in the pet product world. With the economy the way it is many people are trying to start their own businesses. Rescue of the week is Paws For Life in Michigan and Courtney Sanders stops by to talk about the pets they are saving and what they can do for abandoned pets. Tick season is right around the corner and Jeff shares a tip from Dr. Nancy Kay author of “Speaking For Spot” on how to remove them from your pet. Also News and announcements…rabies vaccine pellets are working to reduce the number of cases they are seeing in NY so this will be spreading to more states.

 Jeff Catches up with Lisa Peterson – Director of Communications for the AKC who talks about the Oscars and the survey that they did on the favorite canine movie of 2010. Also the Top U.S. Airlines for traveling with your pet. Oregon Dachsund Rescue Inc., Patti Galle joins us to talk about their efforts and the breed. Catching up on National news stories from veterinarians and also other announcements.

I had the rare privilege this week to interview a couple of the great expedition leaders for NatGeo’s series “Expedition Week!” We went slightly off topic this week but I just couldn’t help but be drawn in by the opportunity to get some of these interesting people on the show! Some expeditions are scary and some are intriguing but they are ALL entertaining.  Piers Gibbon travels to the heart of the Ecuadorian Jungle to find the head shrinking natives and describes his journey. This week we discussed our trip to Philadelphia and the experience of being at the show. While there, I had the opportunity to speak with John Miller, Executive VP of NBC Sports and the man behind the National Dog Show presented by Purina. Catch the fantastic footage of the breeds at the NBC web site. National Geographic's Homezone is an Interesting Site for Family Friendly content!

We also were able to talk to Alison Wagner the President and CEO of National Geographic’s Scholastic Publishing about a great new program to help kids and young people stay sharp if they have to miss school due to the flu outbreak! This program keeps youngsters engaged and interested and can be found at National Geographics Homezone on their WebSite. Vet to the Stars!

This week Dr. Patrick talks about another case of H1N1 found in a feline and also pet diarrhea.  Now, it’s not a topic you want to discuss during dinner but a messy part of pet parenting (and child parenting) that we all must deal with sooner or later! Listen in for information on when it gets to be a serious problem and when it’s time to get to a vet!

With all of the talk about the “Swine Flu” or the “H1N1 Virus” Dr. Patrick also offered information on if this will affect your pets.
