This week – Hour 1: Darlene Arden, Award Winning author and Certified Animal Behaviorist joins Jeff to talk about her new book “The Complete Cat’s Meow.” A great book on all things cat. Darlene was with us for the release of her previous book “Rover Get Off Her Leg” and it was great catching up with her. She always has great advice and you will enjoy this book. Have you ever had your pet eat your illegal (or even legal for that matter) stash of drugs? Needless to say, or maybe not so needless is that it can make your pet seriously ill if not kill them. Dr. Partick Mahaney our Vet to the Stars in Hollywood joins us to talk about this issue that he has seen in his practice. Hurricane Irene has left more than a few rescues in bad shape and Jeff gives a run down on how you can help. News and announcements.

Hour2: Have you decided what you will do with your pet’s remains when it has passed away? Carol Carprita of Woodside Pet Cemetary joins Jeff to discuss this issue and talk about how a Pet Cemetery operates (See Video Below). Pet Cemeteries are not something new that has just sprung up to take advantage of the pet industry boom…they have been around for many many years. Carol gives some tips on what to do when you are in that situation. Irene (and yes her name really is Irene…like Jeff’s mom!) of the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City New Jersey joins Jeff for the Rescue of the Week Segment to talk about Hurricane Irene last week and how they are dealing with the destruction as well as how they helped the animals. Pet Etiquette

Darlene Arden is a Certified Animal Behavior Consultant who is the “Go To ” person for various media networks and reporters around the country. She is also a highly respected author and joins us to talk about her latest book “Rover Get Off Her Leg! Pet Etiquette for the Dog Who Pees on Your Rug, Steals the Pot Roast, and Poops in Improper Places!” We had a great time talking to Darlene about some of the “fun” of being a dog owner including the various quirks that our dogs can have. This was not your normal conversation about dogs and we had some good laughs during the discussion, but the serious topics of patience while training, “Thunder phobia,” and what to do about an eavesdropping (or just plain Staring) dog during your intimate love making moments lead us to some interesting conclusions. Not only does Darlene give us a lot of information in the book she also keeps it light with anecdotes about each situation throughout. I definitely recommend this book for anyone owning a dog. I just got into it and have already learned more about how to read “Butch’s” signals better.

"The Second Chance They Deserve!"

Kip Altstaetter of the Houston Boxer Rescue joined us for our rescue segment. Kip was easy to talk to and was more than happy to tell us about the great work this young organization has been doing over the last two years. For the love of the Boxer breed and animals in general, they will rescue as many as they can and see to it that they get a second chance. This is a great breed and maybe someday Butch will need a body guard!

Vet to the Stars!

Dr. Patrick joined us to talk about the problems they have been having with Coyotes in Hollywood! Yes that’s right Hollywood California! They are in other parts of the country also like Chicago and the outlying areas. I recently learned this while visiting my good friend Dave Deremer and his family. Coyotes need to be taken seriously, as they can snatch your pet from you in broad daylight. Dr. Patrick talks about how to take precautions and Jessica Simpson’s recent sad experience with her dog “Daisy.”
