I had a great time in California attending the Dog show and met some really nice people. This is quite an event! Being in California the weather is usually not a factor, but this year for the 9th annual show they had to deal with a bit of rain and cooler temps. Being from Ohio 55 degrees and rainy is like summer weather for me in December anyway. Never-the-less the show must go on and go on it did. We play a few of the interviews from entrants and also Jason Taylor of Eukanuba who is in charge of the event.

Hosting the AKC Eukanuba Championship

Erin Wanner has been producer ast Animal Planet for a few years now and she is the producer for the AKC Eukanuba ChampionShip that will air on “The Night Before The Superbowl!” February 6th. Erin was nice enough to take time out of her schedule to give us a call and talk to us about what it takes to get a dog show as big as this one ready to be on TV!. She also gives a few words of advice for young people who want to get into producing!

PugFest 2010 Ft. Meyers Florida

Karen Sloan of Lee County Library in Ft. Meyers Florida joined us to talk about the 2010 Pugfest. This is the 5th annual Pugfest that they have had and it couldn’t be for a better cause! This year’s theme is TOGA’s for the Pugs. Can’t wait to see the pictures!

John O'Hurley and David Frei Hosting the National Dog Show Presented by Purina

 It was great fun to talk with David and John over the last couple of weeks. They bring so much knowledge and style to the dog show each year that it was an honor to get their opinions and insight for this traditional Thanksgiving event for the My Buddy Butch Talk Show! Each year David and John fill us in on the latest happenings in the dog world and this year was no exception. Tiffany Simons was your sideline reporter for the National Dog Show

We were also joined by Tiffany Simons who did the sideline reporting for the broadcast. Tiffany has been reporting for NBC Sports so you may recognize her from The 2009 Westminster Dog Show as well as some other small events like SuperBowl XLI and XLII! Tiffany made the rounds in the benching area to cut a few vids with the owners and handlers getting their dogs ready for the ring. Tiffany shares her experience with us on the MBB Radio show and tells us her plans for future shows. We look forward to talking to her again as she will be at Westminster again in 2010!

I was able to catch up with John Miller who is VP of NBC Sports, and the man behind the National Dog Show, in the Press Room at the Philadelphia Expo Center. John shared with me the original idea and how everyone worked together to bring us this annual family tradition for the last 8 years! The National Dog Show Presented by Purina!

We also had Pam Mayes of the Alabama Pug Rescue with us who is the 2009 winner of Purina’s “Doing More For Pet’s Rescue Stories Contest.” Told us the heartbreaking story of “Faith,” a Boxer that had been neglected for weeks after being hit by a car. Listen to this great story with a truly happy ending!

This is the first “no-kill” shelter in the State of Idaho! Some expeditions are scary and some are intriguing but they are ALL entertaining.  Piers Gibbon travels to the heart of the Ecuadorian Jungle to find the head shrinking natives and describes his journey. National Geographic's Homezone is an Interesting Site for Family Friendly content!

We also were able to talk to Alison Wagner the President and CEO of National Geographic’s Scholastic Publishing about a great new program to help kids and young people stay sharp if they have to miss school due to the flu outbreak! This program keeps youngsters engaged and interested and can be found at National Geographics Homezone on their WebSite. This week Dr. Patrick talks about another case of H1N1 found in a feline and also pet diarrhea.  Now, it’s not a topic you want to discuss during dinner but a messy part of pet parenting (and child parenting) that we all must deal with sooner or later! Listen in for information on when it gets to be a serious problem and when it’s time to get to a vet!

With all of the talk about the “Swine Flu” or the “H1N1 Virus” Dr. Patrick also offered information on if this will affect your pets.
