Carol Carprita of Woodside Pet Cemetary joins Jeff to discuss this issue and talk about how a Pet Cemetery operates (See Video Below). Pet Cemeteries are not something new that has just sprung up to take advantage of the pet industry boom…they have been around for many many years. Carol gives some tips on what to do when you are in that situation. Irene (and yes her name really is Irene…like Jeff’s mom!) of the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City New Jersey joins Jeff for the Rescue of the Week Segment to talk about Hurricane Irene last week and how they are dealing with the destruction as well as how they helped the animals. This is a topic that we talk about a lot about on this show and Dr. Donna Spector is an expert in pet nutrition and she talks about the obesity problem with pets. Pot Belly Pigs make great family pets!
thought of having a pot bellied pig as a pet. We talked about it before here on the show and Jeff was excited to talk to Vickie Barrow the owner of “The Best Little Pot Belly Pig House in Texas!” Vickie has loved pigs since she was a child on their family farm and has had Pot Bellied Pigs for the last 20 years. She has a state licensed herd in Texas and her pot bellies are highly sought after by those in Hollywood like George Clooney (we all know he had Max), J-Lo, and even Jay Leno has contacted her. Her pigs have been in movies and on TV many times! A very sweet lady doing what she loves!
Hour 1 – Author Olga Horvat announced the release of her first book “Paranormal Pooch” about a toy poodle that affected a family but had some very peculiar things happen. Do you believe in the paranormal, Spirits, or your pet being possessed? Very interesting book and discussion. Dr. Kim Bloomer of ACAN joins Jeff to talk about how some celebrities feel they have to make their pets”Vegan” just because they are. You have to hear this she is very passionate about this topic and you will see…or rather hear! Bed Bugs have not gone away just be cause it summer and if you are traveling this summer you need to beware of your surroundings and how these little ‘buggers” can ride into your house on your pet! Jeff gives some tips on how to prevent infestation.
Hour 2- Dr. Dawn Marcus MD, Professor, Neurologist and author of “The Power of Wagging Tails” joins Jeff to discuss the study that she conducted at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center regarding the effect of therapy dogs on pain management patients in the waiting room. We have all had to sit in a Doctor’s waiting room either sick or in pain. These folks, some having no hope of a cure, are there to try and live with their pain. Listen in to the surprising results of this study that Dr. Dawn wanted to announce on our show before it was released to the national medical journals. Dr. Patrick Mahaney our Vet to the stars stops by to talk about the tragic death of Amy Winehouse and the situation her pets are in now that she is gone.
